Life Fitness was founded in 1977, evolving from an exercise bike designed by Keene P. Dimick in 1968. Augie Nieto incorporated the company as Lifecycle, Inc. to market this innovative bike. In 1984, the company was sold to Bally Total Fitness and rebranded as Life Fitness, Inc. The brand pioneered advancements in fitness equipment, introducing the first computerized strength training program in 1988 and expanding into treadmills shortly after. Over the years, Life Fitness has made several strategic acquisitions, including Hammer Strength and Cybex International, enhancing its product offerings in cardiovascular and strength training equipment. In 2019, Life Fitness was sold to KPS Capital Partners, further solidifying its position in the fitness industry. Today, it remains a leader in fitness solutions, committed to inspiring healthier lives through innovative equipment and technology.
